   Proposal Description:
   Aim 1: To examine neuropsychological differences FTD patients with and without    eating abnormalities.                                                             Aim 2: To examine volumetric differences in brain regions implicated in           abnormal feeding in a clinically characterized samples of bvFTD patients with     and without eating abnormalities.                                                 Aim 3: To examine rates of feeding abnormalities in FTD relative to other         dementia syndromes                                                                My collaborator, Arnold Bakker, Ph.D., has a faculty appointment in the           Division of Psychiatric Imaging. He has over a decade of experience designing     and implementing structural and functional neuroimaging studies in individuals    with neurodegenerative disease, mild cognitive impairment, and healthy older      adults. He has experience with the processing, analysis and publication of MRI    data. We are interested in examining neuroanatomical correlates of abnormal       eating in FTD. We will use voxel-based morphometry to acquire volumes of          regions implicated in the hedonic and homeostatic regulation of food intake.    The aims for the neuropathology data are to 1) examine differences in reports of feeding behavior across the dementia syndromes in path-confirmed cases, 2) to examine volumetric differences in MRI data in overeaters and nonovereaters with FTD, AD etc. with a subset analysis in those cases that are path-confirmed.
